The winter of 2022-2023 proved to be exceptionally challenging for Ukrainians, enduring relentless Russian bombardment of their cities. The deliberate targeting of power infrastructure left millions without electricity for extended periods, enduring days and nights in darkness. Despite Russia's aim to demoralize Ukrainian society, this shared hardship only served to fortify the resilience of the population, fostering strength amidst adversity. In this photograph, Kontraktova Square in Kyiv is shrouded in darkness, with only a few buildings illuminated amidst the gloom.
